Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the formal process by which adults become members of the Roman Catholic Church.  This year, we have a wonderful group of ten participants in the English RCIA class being held at St. Casimir's Parish on Sunday mornings.

RCIA Class of 2006
Front row:  Anna Foster, Jennifer Casares, Rhiannon Kathan, Tina Madera, Jennifer Jackson-Pawlak
Back row:  Larry Foster, Matt Johns, Arturo De Leon, Dave Newhouse, Raul Bueno

On November 19, during the 9:15 Mass, the candidates and their sponsors participated in the Rite of Acceptance.  They were marked with the sign of the cross, symbolizing both the joy and the cost of Christian discipleship.  This ceremony is the beginning of the catechumenate period, which means "time of serious study".  The catechumens (those who have not been baptized) and the candidates (baptized Christians who have not been confirmed) will be preparing for full acceptance into the Church.

Please keep them in your prayers!
